Jeffrey Harris founded Global Reserve Group, LLC in 2012. Previously, he had been at Warburg Pincus since 1983 where he was a senior partner of the firm and head of its Energy Group. Currently, he is a director of Central European Petroleum, Foro Energy, HG Energy, Knoll (lead director), RigUp, Rockcliff Energy, and Welligence Energy Analytics. He has served on the Board of Directors of nearly forty companies including publicly-listed entities such as Avaya, Bill Barrett Corp., Comcast UK Cable Partners, ECsoft, Electromagnetic Geoservices AS, Industri-Matematik, Kosmos Energy, Newfield Exploration, Nuance Communications, Serica Energy and Spinnaker Exploration. In addition, he has been a Board member of many private energy-related companies including APT Power Generation, Competitive Power Ventures, Laredo Petroleum, Latigo Petroleum, Lariat Petroleum, OSUM Oil Sands, and Sheridan Production.
During his tenure at Warburg Pincus Mr. Harris was directly involved advising companies around the world and directly overseeing over $4 billion of equity investment. He has significant experience investing in and working with companies in the technology, consumer/industrial, telecoms, and energy industries. Within energy, he has worked extensively advising companies involved in exploration & production, technology-enabled oilfield services, power generation, and cleantech.
In 2012 he became a Senior Advisor to Quantum Energy Partners, LLC, an energy-focused private equity firm headquartered in Houston, where he is involved in many facets of the firm and sits on the Investment Committee. Global Reserve Group and Quantum have agreed to co-invest in a variety of energy companies including early-stage technology-based businesses.
Mr. Harris is a member of the Board of Trustees of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the Cranbrook Educational Community, and Friends of The High Line in New York. In addition, he was an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business from 2005 through 2017 where he taught courses on venture capital, innovation and entrepreneurship. Previously, he served as Chairman of the National Venture Capital Association where he was a Board member for six years. He received a B.S. in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
