About

Previously, he had been at Warburg Pincus since 1983 where he was a senior partner of the firm and head of its Energy Group. During his career at Warburg Pincus he invested in numerous venture capital and growth equity opportunities in the U.S. and Europe across the technology spectrum, including telecoms, software, computer hardware, and analytical instruments, as well as consumer and industrial businesses. Currently, he is a director of BeZero Carbon, Carbon Direct, ChargePoint, Datagration Solutions, FigBytes, Power Factors, Project Canary, Seismos, Welligence Energy Analytics, and Workrise. He has served on the Board of Directors of over fifty companies including sixteen publicly-listed entities.
During his tenure at Warburg Pincus Mr. Harris was directly involved advising companies around the world and directly overseeing over $4 billion of equity investment. He has significant experience investing in and working with companies in the technology, consumer/industrial, telecoms, and energy industries.
In 2012 he became a Venture Partner at Quantum Energy Partners, LLC, a private equity firm headquartered in Houston focused on the energy industry, where he is involved in many facets of the firm and sits on the Investment Committee. In 2017, Global Reserve Group and Quantum created a joint venture (Q-GRG) to invest in early-stage technology-based businesses. Going forward these investments have been rebranded Quantum Innovation Fund.
Mr. Harris is a member of the Board of Trustees of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the Cranbrook Educational Community, and Friends of The High Line in New York City. In addition, he was an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business from 2005 through 2017 where he taught courses on venture capital, innovation and entrepreneurship. Previously, he served as Chairman of the National Venture Capital Association where he was a Board member for six years. He received a B.S. in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
His book “Transformative Entrepreneurs: How Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Muhammad Yunus and Other Innovators Succeeded” was published in 2012 by Palgrave Macmillan.
